Super Scrap-a-Thon sketch # 11

More photos from our Labor Day Weekend camping trip to Wichita Mountains Wildlife Reserve in OK. There is a dam there with a big lake. Paper is Timeworn Rustic (ret.) and I stamped images from Prehistoric Paintings (ret.) on it in Close to Cocoa ink. Cotton twill is sponged with various colors of ink. CS is Night of Navy. Jumbo eyelets are SU. This was a nice easy sketch to do once I looked past the "cardness" of it. My journaling is crookeder than a dog's hind leg but oh, well. Thanks for looking!

Super Scrap-a-Thon sketch # 9

Well, my goal is to get at least halfway through the sketches over at Scrap Friendzy this month. That means 16-17 LO's. This is the 12th (I think!) If I manage to do more, it's just icing on the cake! This is sketch # 9 which I really like. For the circle I used a zig-zag stitch with a short stitch stitch length and a wide stitch width (took me a while to figure it out). I traced a 10" circle on the back of the CS and sewed over it. All papers and sticky die cuts are from retired SU Simply Scrappin' kit Creative License. Colors are Blue Bayou, Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky, and Pumpkin Pie. I love this pic of the two of them. It shows how close they really are, as opposed to what I usually see, which is their fussing with each other! It is so nice to be getting all these pages done!

Super Scrap-a-Thon sketch # 5

Okay, so I'm not loving this page, but then I wasn't crazy about the pix in the first place--it's so dim and yellow in the BAB store. You can see more about this event HERE. I knew these pix would fit this sketch, though! This sketch would have been tough otherwise. One of the girls on SF made it into a title page for an album with the year as the title and no photos; I thought that was pretty cool. These photos are of all the kids stepping on the pedal to stuff their animals. The pic at top R is of Ems friend with CP. We rolled her wheelchair wheel over the pedal! But I couldn't make that pic fit with the other ones, so it's up there. Letters are printed on CS and cut out. The font is Toontime aka Ren & Stimpy. It's close to the BAB font, and free, whereas the actual BAB font is $50! I may be crazy, but not crazy enough to pay $50 for a font I plan to use only one time! The pink outfit on the bear doesn't go with the rest of the page, but it matched Em's outfit, so I had to do it. I plan to label each pic with the kid's name, but didn't want to upload that to the internet. Circle details are from the Accents & Elements Cricut Cartridge. Colors are Pacific Point, Real Red, Yo-Yo Yellow, Pixie Pink, Pink Passion. All paper is from SU. Thanks for looking!

Super Scrap-a-Thon sketch # 8

Here is Emily's cheerleader portrait from last year when she took cheerleading at the Y. The curved panel is actually clear CS that I traced on with a Sharpie. If there's one thing I hate to do, it's cover up beautiful patterned paper! That's a huge reason I'm such a paper hoarder--can't bear to cover it up! What a weirdo I am. Anyway, the "pom-poms" were made using the Sizzix Daisy die from SU. The smaller flower has a clear rhinestone brad and the large one has a brad from Making Memories. Gray panel is Going Gray that I wheeled with an old SU wheel called Confetti in black. "She's all that" from Cricut Graphically Speaking cartridge. I have some snapshots of her doing the cheer thing that I need to scrap too, but this is good for now. A few weeks into the cheer thing she wanted to quit, but I made her see it through. She has no interest in it now, but she can turn a mean cartwheel, which is more than I ever could! Happy stamping!

Super Scrap-a-Thon sketch # 6

This is from when I went with the Scout troop to Alabaster Caverns in OK. We squirmed on our bellies through pitch black, mud and water filled tunnels. The last one we went through was aptly named "Fat Albert's Intestines"! Afterwards you hop in a field shower with your clothes to get some of the mud off, then you trek up the hill to the COIN-OPERATED shower to strip and get clean. Believe me, at that point there's no amount of money you wouldn't pay to get in that shower! Then you throw your clothes (and I mean ALL of them) in the dumpster. It was a fun experience and I'm glad I did it. Don't think I ever need to repeat it though. Base is Night of Navy Textured (how I love SU's textured CS!), DP is retired SU called Timeworn Paper Relics. Title panel is Close to Cocoa, punched with MS punch "drippy goo". Boot and flashlight are stamped from Roughing It, SU retired. Photo mat and letters are Cool Caribbean, using Plantin Schoolbook Cricut Cartridge. Copper brads are SU. In the pic I'm on the back row holding up 2 helmets and Matt is right in front of me waving. Had a lot of fun with this page! Thanks for looking!

Super Scrap-a-Thon sketch # 17

Well, I finally went back to my "roots"--my scrapping roots, that is! When I first got interested in scrapping, I learned how from my SU demo (in fact scrapping is how I got into stamping in the first place). I used to never use stickers, die cuts, or anything like that--only stamps! On this page I have used only stamps, all SU, and all retired: Big Deal Alpha, Roughing It (one of my all time favorites--it will never go to eBay!), and Expressive Flexible Phrases. I popped up the tent and the sleeping bag on foam tape. DP is SU Good Morning Sunshine. I ordinarily am not an owl person, but I thought this paper fit the theme, esp. since there was an owl hooting all night long that weekend! Ink colors are Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun, Chocolate Chip, and Stazon Black. I had a lot of fun with this page and have more pix from this weekend to scrap. I hope to work on some soon!

Super Scrap-a-Thon sketch # 15

Here is another entry for the Scrap Friendzy Super Sketch-a-thon. This one would have been very quick and simple had I not dropped a glue coated letter onto one of the photos! Had to wait for a new photo to be printed. Paper and arrows are Scenic Route (Metropolis I think). Chipboard letters and stars are SU. Base is Real Red, SU. Hope you got some crafting time in today!

Super Scrap-a-Thon sketch # 12

Okay, yes, I am going out of order, but that's okay! This sketch fit these pix, so # 12 it is. I used a SU Simply Scrappin' kit from last year, I Wish. Again, with the combo of a simple sketch and a kit, this page went together fast. I even used my own handwriting (which I loathe) on the journaling! Anyway, most of my Christmas pix are now scrapped; the only ones left are of Matt's fave present, the Nerf rocket launcher! Waiting for an appropriate sketch...

Super Scrap-a-Thon sketch # 4

This is for the month-long challenge over at Scrap Friendzy. This is sketch #4, which was a pretty easy one. I am trying to get most of this Christmas' photos scrapped. I used the old SU Simply Scrappin' kit Winter Bright, some SU chipboard letters I had, and the Winter Wonderland Cricut Cartridge for the "25". I covered the letters with some of the DP from the kit. All the little doo-dahs are sticky die cuts from the kit. I have fallen way behind on my Scrap-a-Thon challenges. Hopefully I'll get caught up soon! Hope you enjoyed this--have a scrap-happy day!

Super Scrap-a-Thon sketch # 3

I love how these pictures came out--they are from last January. My mom took us to the American Girl Store in Dallas. She loves American Girl dolls. It is a truly amazing place, even men are amazed. It is always packed and you'd never know there was a recession by the way people spend money in there. You hear foreign languages--it's a tourist attraction--Disney on a smaller scale! They have a bistro on the 2nd floor and you have to make reservations weeks in advance. Mom took us there for lunch--it was really special and fun. Colors are SU Purely Pomegranate, Groovy Guava, and Wild Wasabi, DP and ribbon are retired SU. Alpha is Curlie Girlie by Sizzix. Cricut cartridges are Stretch Your Imagination and Accent Essentials. I also used Nesties and ! Yes, my sewing machine! I have to read the directions EVERY time, but it always works for me. I had fun with this sketch--Thanks for looking!

INspired Crafter Saturday Scrapbook Sketch #2

Here is my take on this week's Inspired Crafter's scrapbook sketch. I had this great pic of Matt and Emily that I wanted to use but I was stumped about the colors. The pink in Em's hat was obvious, but I was having trouble with Matt's coat. Finally I thought about the Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses I bought a couple weeks ago. It looked pretty good so I went with it. Title and shapes are from Cricut Winter Wonderland cartridge. Stamps used are Technique Tuesday and PTI. CS is Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi, Cranberry Crisp, Pretty in Pink, and white. Ink is Baja Breeze. Hope you like it--Can't wait to see what everyone else came up with!

PTI Notepad Swap

This is my project for the Notepad portion of the current PTI swap, found HERE. I had a hard time with this, because I didn't buy PTI's notepad set. Then I ran out of New Leaf ribbon, so had to use Ripe Avocado on one, which changed the layer color, etc. You all know the drill, we've all been there. And when I went to put the notepads in I discovered that So-and-So of a clerk at Office Depot cut half of my pads CROOKED! So they wouldn't fit, had to rip up one cover, luckily was able to cobble it back together. Arrgghh, some days nothing goes right LOL! Anyway, they're all done and ready for mailing. The template for this cover is a free download from PTI which can be found HERE. I used Floral Frenzy and Journaling Lines (on the inside pocket which I didn't photograph), Melon Berry and New Leaf CS and ink, Cricut cartridge Plantin Schoolbook. I sponged the letters with Burnt Umber Palette ink. DP is Green Tea Leaves and I sewed around the edge of it. I attached a small strip of DP to the top of the notepad to cover up the store logo.

PTI Regular Card Swap

Hi, here is my contribution to this round of the PTI card swap over on SCS, found HERE. Since it's due Feb 1 I went with a Valentine theme. Card base is Raspberry Fizz. Stamp set is Borders and Corners Hearts, ink is RF and Sweet Blush. White layer is Cuttlebug'ed with Swiss Dots, DP is old SU, ribbon is from my stash, I think it originally came from Mike's. Punches are Marvy and SU scallop border punch. Tiny buttons are from my stash. Thanks for looking!

Super Scrap-a-Thon bonus sketch #1

These pix are from when the kids and I and my brother Terrell drove from my mom and dad's to visit my sister and brother in law at their ranch in Evant. Terrell had flown out from NC. We had a wonderful time. This is for the bonus sketch # 1 over at Scrap Friendzy, which I personally thought was kind of busy, and this page is as well, but I'm happy with how it turned out. Cricut cartridge is Old West, "the ranch" is sponged in chocolate chip ink. Hardware is Tim Holtz, all else is SU, except for the cross-stitch stamping around the pix, those are Technique Tuesday. Journalling is Handwriting Dakota in rust colored ink. Thanks for looking--happy scrapbooking!

Super Scrap-a-Thon sketch # 2

Well I got the second sketch done over at Scrap Friendzy. You can make either a card or a scrapbook page, to me this one looked more like a card. All supplies are Stampin' Up! Colors are Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip and Parisian Breeze DP. Ran the DP through the Textile CB folder. Used 2 embossed and 2 debossed. I thought the debossed stripes could be a little more masculine. On the embossed one I sponged the raised areas and edges with Choc. Chip ink. Punches are Curly Label, Large Oval, Scalloped Oval, Ticket Corner, and I also used the butterfly die and the Movers and Shapers Curly Label die. It is slightly larger than the punch so you can layer. Stamp sets are Oval All, Cute & Curly, and Best Yet. The card in the upper L corner I also entered as this weeks CPS sketch. Hope you've enjoyed looking!

Inspired Crafter Saturday Scrapbook Sketch #1

Before Christmas the kids and I went down to visit my parents at their home near Decatur, TX. I thought this was a great pic so I ordered a 5 x 7 print of it (which I trimmed down a little). This layout is based on a sketch for my friends' and my new blog, Inspired Crafters. You can see it here. Our amazing Banu has gotten it all set up and posted our first scrapbooking sketch, which she got from Page Maps. I just realized I forgot to put on a title! Yikes! I may be able to squeeze something between the photo and the journalling, for now it will have to do. All CS, ribbon, punches, hardware and DP are SU. The barbed wire which I substituted for the flourish in the sketch is made with the Cricut Old West cartridge (hey, Mike's was having a BOGOF sale okay?) . Colors are Garden Green textured(I thought it matched Em's shirt better than Wild Wasabi), River Rock textured, and Blue Bayou. DP is Western Sky. The font is Handwriting Dakota--I really like it! This was a really fun sketch and one I would use again I think.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season; I know I did. I don't usually make resolutions, but I did this year and one of them was to focus more on scrapbooking. My PTI buddies over on SCS were right there with some tips on some great websites to help get me started. This layout is for Sketch # 1 for the Scrap Friendzy Sketch-a-Thon. I really liked this sketch and knew immediately what I wanted to do with it. Emily got a ton of stuff for Christmas, but her absolute favorite thing was these SpongeBob PJ's, robe and slippers. Base is Bazzill, and layers are SU Yo-Yo Yellow, Tempting Turquoise, and the old Rose Romance, which I still have a sheet or two of lying around. One of the great things about scrapping more is maybe I'll use up some of my paper LOL! I got a Cricut Expression for Christmas and have been having a wonderful time with it--it is just so fun! Here I used Stretch Your Imagination for the panel with the holes (because SpongeBob is absorbent and yellow and porous you know), Accents and Elements for the scalloped border and the little fun elements, and Plantin Schoolbook for the letters (the last two came with the machine). The word "present" is stamped in Palette Noir with Technique Tuesday's Large Avalon Lowercase. I really like TT's alphas, especially the script ones. I used Doodlebug Designs glitter on the centers of the flower looking things. Journalling was done on the computer and the font is Party Let. Hope you've enjoyed looking. Did you make any New Year's Resolutions this year?
